Official status & archaeological view
Official status
The IHA manages it as the Koriyama Mausoleum Reference Site.
Attribution (jitei): the Imperial Household Agency's determination of whose tomb it manages — separate from heritage designation.
Archaeological view
A 122.5m keyhole mound with a moat at Niki-cho, Yamatokoriyama. An IHA survey ahead of conservation work found part of the stone facing, haniwa fragments and other finds. The cylindrical haniwa, with black firing marks and type-B horizontal brushing, belong to Kawanishi's Phase III, placing construction considerably earlier than previously thought (a Yamatokoriyama City feature dates it to the early 5th century). No occupant has been identified.
