Archaeological view
The mound was altered by graves and cultivation, leaving its original shape unknown. Kami Town dates it to the early 7th century and gives the double-sleeved horizontal stone chamber as about 10m long. Finds include three decorated swords—mallet-headed, twin-dragon ring-pommel, and pointed-pommel types—plus a bead-pattern mirror, horse gear, ornaments, and pottery. The town regards the assemblage as evidence relevant to ties between Tajima’s local rulers and the Kinai government.
