Official status & archaeological view
Official status
Managed by the IHA as the Shimosakamoto reference site. A 2010 government written answer gives a different archaeological name for the mound (its reading is not given), lists the occupant's name as unknown, and the designation date as 25 December 1892.
Attribution (jitei): the Imperial Household Agency's determination of whose tomb it manages — separate from heritage designation.
Archaeological view
A scallop-shaped mound about 73m long in the Konooka group. A 2021 Ryukoku University archaeology report places it in the Middle Kofun period in its chronological chart. The mound’s detailed structure and burial facility are not established.
