A large mound beside Uwanari-zuka Kofun. Kazuo Migishima (2023) places it in the mid to late 6th century, and the errata for a Tenri City publication assign it to the latter half of the Late Kofun period. Tenri City's webpage instead dates it to the early 6th century.
Finds & research
Stone facing is documented, and a fragment of a tuff sarcophagus was recovered.
Archaeological view
An approximately 107m keyhole mound at Isonokami, Tenri. It is a two-tiered mound with a moat and outer bank; an estimated 9–10m horizontal stone chamber has been destroyed; the Tenri City Tourism Association (citing the Yamato Zenpo-koenfun Shusei) places it in the front portion, while Kazuhiro Masuda (1996) places it in the rear circular portion.
Field notes
The mound is preserved. Follow on-site signs and do not enter private land.
