Official status & archaeological view
Official status
Managed by the IHA as the mausoleum of Emperor Sutoku, the 75th emperor; the official form is a square tumulus (hokyu).
Attribution (jitei): the Imperial Household Agency's determination of whose tomb it manages — separate from heritage designation.
Archaeological view
Sakaide City and Shiromine-ji both date the establishment of the mausoleum at the cremation site on Mount Shiromine to 1164. The site was repaired later; the period refers to the founding of the mausoleum. Sakaide City gives conflicting funeral dates within the same account, so no day is stated here. The IHA visitor page does not give its archaeological size, construction date, or burial structure.
