Official status & archaeological view
Official status
Managed by the Imperial Household Agency as the mausoleum of Emperor Showa, the 124th emperor; the official form is an upper-round, lower-square tumulus (joen-kahofun).
Attribution (jitei): the Imperial Household Agency's determination of whose tomb it manages — separate from heritage designation.
Archaeological view
Osaka Prefectural Nakanoshima Library verified a 1990 Asahi Shimbun report stating that the lower square of Musashino Mausoleum is 27 m per side. The record also notes that published heights conflict. For its date, the IHA records the mausoleum ceremony on 24 February 1989, while Hachioji City says Musashino Mausoleum was built in 1990.
