Archaeological view
Himeji City describes a square mound about 50m per side, included in the National Historic Site as Tomb No.3 of the Danjozan group. It has a composite chest-shaped sarcophagus, stone paving, and haniwa; mirrors, blades, and beads have been reported. The city’s brief account does not establish a precise construction date or the relationship between this tomb’s occupant and Danjozan’s. In contrast, the Hyogo Prefectural Board of Education's Tofumachi III and Ekimaemachi excavation report (2019, p.4) gives a side length of around 60m. The Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Archaeology's chest-shaped sarcophagus catalogue lists the mound size as '56'. The measurement definitions and reasons for these differences have not been established.
