Official status & archaeological view
Official status
The Imperial Household Agency manages it as the Konabe Mausoleum Reference Site.
Attribution (jitei): the Imperial Household Agency's determination of whose tomb it manages — separate from heritage designation.
Archaeological view
A 204m, three-tiered keyhole mound at Hokkeji, Nara, with projections at both waists, a shield-shaped moat, and an outer embankment. Nara City dates it to the early 5th century. The 204m length is Nara City’s figure; the Imperial Household Agency’s Archives and Mausolea Department bulletin (vol. 62) gives about 202m as currently preserved, and parts of a 2024 Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties report give 208m or about 210m.
Field notes
The precinct is closed as a Mausoleum Reference Site. View it only from the surrounding public roads and other authorized areas.
