Official status & archaeological view
Official status
Managed by the Imperial Household Agency as the mausoleum of Emperor Go-Murakami, the 97th emperor; the official form is a round tumulus (enkyu). The grounds of Kanshin-ji, where the mausoleum stands, were designated a National Historic Site ("Kanshinji Keidai," the Kanshin-ji precinct) in 1934. The Kawachinagano City Board of Education gives as reasons for the designation the temple’s support for Emperor Go-Daigo’s overthrow of the shogunate and the Kenmu Restoration, together with Emperor Go-Murakami’s temporary palace there and the presence of his mausoleum.
Attribution (jitei): the Imperial Household Agency's determination of whose tomb it manages — separate from heritage designation.
