Official status & archaeological view
Official status
Managed by the Imperial Household Agency as the mausoleum of Emperor Kokaku, the 119th emperor, and Emperor Ninko, the 120th emperor; the official form is a nine-storied stone pagoda (kuju-no-to).
Attribution (jitei): the Imperial Household Agency's determination of whose tomb it manages — separate from heritage designation.
Archaeological view
Sennyu-ji records the burials of Emperor Kokaku in 1840 and Emperor Ninko in 1846 at the temple. An IHA Archives and Mausolea Department list also identifies their stone pagodas at this mausoleum and gives their funeral dates. The period here refers to these imperial funerary monuments, not a Kofun-period mound. An IHA Archives and Mausolea Department survey records the total height of Emperor Kokaku's stone pagoda as 605cm. The 6.05m figure given above measures that stone pagoda, not a side of the mausoleum precinct or a kofun mound length.
