Archaeological view
Kasai City places this round, two-tiered mound about 170m west of Tamaoka and gives its diameter as about 35m. It has a square projection, haniwa rows on the summit and terrace, and tuff stone paving on its slopes and foot. Many stones were removed from the pit-style chamber, thought to have held a split-bamboo-shaped wooden coffin. Reported finds include a leather-laced triangular-plate cuirass, swords, spear, and axe; the projection yielded rooster haniwa, pottery, and clay objects including pestle-shaped pieces.
